The launch of the new Reelscan Software Application from SunRise gives IDSL’s Film scanning services a productive new competitive edge.

ReelScan Application Software facilitates Greater Workflow for Rollfilm Scanning

Santa Ana, Calif., February 6, 2008 — SunRise Imaging, Inc. (SRI), the global leader in high-performance production microfilm scanning systems, today announced its ReelScan® application software designed to be used when scanning rollfilm. ReelScan allows rollfilm to be scanned continuously for post segmentation and image processing. The driving design requirement for ReelScan is the elimination of the need to rescan and the ability to scan and deal with problem images. The ReelScan application speeds-up the workflow process and reduces operator time.

ReelScan, together with the latest ScanFlo image processing applications, provides unparalleled performance in terms of speed, functions and features. ReelScan allows the operator to change or delete single poorly captured images through a very user-friendly segmenter module, without having to go through the whole re-scanning process. This software has the fastest image capture that detects varying image sizes, density, and poor quality.

Image segmentation, correction, extraction and processing are performed afterwards. These tasks can be executed either on the system connected to the SunRise scanner or an external workstation connected to the network, freeing up the scanner for scanning only.

ReelScan is user-friendly with a graphical user interface that gives the operator total control over the scanning process. For many of today’s scanners, the conversion process from film to digital images can encounter problems, increasing time and cost. ReelScan has been designed with built-in functionality to eliminate these problems producing the best in throughput and image quality.
